Hi Tom
This is a follow up from a previous post in which I discussed KH being low.
It now is down to a KH of 0 with GH at 6. Not sure if this is a good thing? I am considering using some Carbonate Hardness generator to raise KH and keep it at about 3. Lighting is 2.4 watts/g for 10hrs with full EI daily dosing plus GH booster.
My main concern is the poorly condition of my cryptocoryne balansae which never seems to do well despite my best efforts. From what I gather this is one of the easier crypts species. The leaves are always very twisted and quite thin and tend to rot at tips. All other plants, Hair Grass,Blyxia, variouos other crypts, stargrass, anubius and Nuphar japonica are all healthy and growing well. There is some BBA which I have been dealing with by steadily increasing co2. Colour of drop checker appears correct with 4dkh solution ....
My question is this...
Should I add calcium carbonate or some shell/ coral gravel to the tank as it appears from my research that this plant really likes harder water or calcium rich environment?
or will increasing the KH alone help?
cheers
chris
