I could be completely off base here, but I just added some Melafix and Pimafix to my tank to treat a sick clown loach and was amazed by the bubbles produced by my Atomic CO2 diffuser. These additives seem to have a "soapy" quality to them that is allowing the CO2 bubbles to become smaller and more abundant/last longer. I dont know the exact science behind this and it may not be aiding in the dispersal of CO2 but it sure as heck looks like it.

...on further observation I found that the bubbles were definitely making their way into areas they weren't before. I had my drop checker in an area that normally is out of the path of CO2. Once the Melafix and Pimafix had been added and the bubbles increased in number, decreased in size and stayed intact longer, the drop checker went from blue to almost yellow within an hour. This is great and as far as i know, these meds have no effect on plants and Melafix is really just tea tree oil.

Any foaming agent, salt etc.....will do this...........the water tension is stronger due to the agents, salts etc. Marine tanks are good example where the mist is finer.
