Chemistry - aquasafe type product - what is...

Hi

I have an aquasafe type product here, which consists of 2 things..

Polyvenylalcohol

&

Natriumthiosulphate.



Now the last I can understand, since it's a dechlorinator... but what the devil is Polyvenylalcohol... I've found 1 answer so far, that it's used as eyedrops... but ehm... fish don't use contacts...


Anyone know what it is? Tom?

Seems like a stabilizer for certain chemical reactions, so it might be for that for the Thiosulphate or to reduce the nasty smell.
You can buy bulk thiosulphate and DIY the dechlorinator also.
