Hi
I am giving up.....I have tried just about everything to fight my algae problems but it just keeps growing.

So I am removing everything possible and scrubbing with bleach....all the rocks. The walls of the tank will be scrubbed and substrate cleaned.
Along with a 50% water change.

In regards to plants, most of which have died, I read that a water bleach solution is good for dipping. I really have nothing to lose now.

My question is in regards to this solution....what is the bleach/h2o ratio?
And do I just dip the leaves or the whole plant...roots and all.

Re: bleach

Just the infected areas, dip in a 19:1 water: bleach dilution.

I don't use bleach for dipping plants, while popular, the plant leaves afterwards do not grow, are ratty looking, and contribute little to the plant's health.

I trim the plants and add nutrients so they regrow fast.
In the meantime, you can add some cheapy stem plants till the other's fill in.

If you goit swmaped with algae, do EI, prune frequently, make certain, I mean check it many times for at least a week, the CO2.

Re: bleach

I've recently given my badly BBA affected mangrove root a dunk in 20% bleach. It's now totally clear and the attached Anubias nana has burst into life, it's never looked better. :)

I was worried about getting rid of the white dead algae but it went within 2 days.

Re: bleach

Well honestly, you do not want to take as long or spend as much $/time.
