Good morning all,
I am considering tearing down my low tech 80 gallon tank and re-doing substrate, and am welcoming thought's or expieriences with.. " Black diamond blasting media" to cap osmocote, soil, peat mix with.
I very much like the balck sand I have in smaller tank which was purchased at LFS but,, is too expensive for me for larger tank.
Product is said to be coal slag which also contains Calcium,Magnesium,Iron, and I can get 50 lb bags from "Tractor supply" Co.for around six dollars.
It may be a bit sharp for cory's, but I can move them to another tank and am wondering,, what say you ?
Many thanks in advance,
Lee.

Hi Lee,

This stuff is actually less coarse than many of the sands people use.:)

It breaks down readily and does not seem to scratch the glass.;)

Keep an eye on your Corys but I think they should be okay.:)
