best way to remove staghorn from healty tank

i noticed i have a bit of staghorn in the botom of the bogwood. i removed almost everything and the tank seems to do fine now.
anyway, how can i make sure the staghorn wont comeback ?

in another words, what is the catalisators for getting staghorn in the planted tank? what is the best way to prevent it ?

Uprooting a substrate good without doing a water change afterwards.
Excessively high fish loads

All have produced staghorn.
It typically comes with other algae.

It hangs on long than many other algae.


I suggest trimming all of it and snip off any attached to leaves you are unwilling to prune.

H2O2 can be used for a large water change to spot treat wood, so does a toothbrush though since it's wood....

General good water conditions prevent algae from growing.
Main thing is root out any algae that's there, then focus on plant health and maintenance. So trim, prune plants and harass the algae.
