At first I was mildly confused by the layout and look of the thing; it took me a minute to figure out that these are lecture notes. A lot of it doesn't apply to our situation, but I did find the part on competition interesting. I think I may have to put Tilman’s book on the subject of resource competition on my list of eventual purchases.

Some of the other lecture topics seem hit and miss. I'd probably glaze over during the phosphate = algae lectures, and try to shake it out of my head after. If I were a student, I'd also want to know why there needs to be 4-5 lectures on the evils of humanity, but none on the processes involved with a lake naturally meeting its end.
