It's not fun and hard to breath as you go deeper.

It's not large enough to use scuba, but too deep for snorkel.
So the water change is effective.

For those of you that care about such things:

The rest of the house:

Esquire House 360º

Some folks that like the tank:

http://www.wireimage.com/FeaturedEvents/2219

That should give you an idea.
While most are in awe of such $$$, I could care less, my job is to save folks $$$ and help them achieve their dreams, whether it is a poor student kid, or the richest person. They are still people.

I had to laugh at the Gallery text on the workings of the Aquarium.

"In the evening, after the plants have soaked up light all day, they begin to breath out oxygen, sending bubbles to the surface of the water."

And also

"Fish...were injected with antiparasitic and antibiotic(sic) medications to build immunity tolerances."

So Tom, we know you work 'magic' somethings. But never 'Dark Magick'!

Are you going to tell him or shall we? ;-))

Yes, it was a joke, but explaining a joke reduces it to something without the slightest bit of humor in it. So, I will just say, I'm sorry I got flippant there. And, it was aimed at no one at all, but the reporters who got a bit carried away with their description of the planted tank.

He's the VP of Esquire:)
What do you expect from a shameless promoter that's so Hollywood?

That's not me nor the owner/client.

The venturis have bene driving the system these days and the beetle 50's have been shut down pretty much.

Those venturis really do the trick well even with the = of about 12 w/gal.

Great news, I am doing the LA zoo exhibits for sure now, the decision has been made.

Looks like 20 x5 x6(4500 gal) and a large pedator tank, 20x8x8(10,000gal) will done at the entrance to the Amazon exhibit.

It'll be awhile, Zoo exhibits take a long time.
But I will get to go to the Amazon to get the plants/fish to add to the tank, so that's pretty cool.

I have the wood already actually.

These will be fun.
Then everyone can see the giant tanks anytime!!

Wow! What an assignment! It just shows what you can do if you work hard enough and intelligently enough. Of course it helps to have the talent too - I could work my butt off and not get a pro sports contract, so there are limits.

Well, I have a lot of traveling to do from the looks of it.

Why watch the Discovery Channel when you can do the Discovery Channel?
Time to get some shots also.

I think I'll push to have more mechanical filtration and in lets and out flows in these tanks also.

BTW, anyone interested in those ADA style all glass tanks in the state of CA?
I have a custom glass builder that will make them rimless, no center bracing etc for a 120 gallon, 48x24x24 for 1100$ and 1400$ for the 72x24x24.
The ADA tank for the 180cm x 60 x60 is 2200$.
If you buy more than one, I can get a better deal also.
Made from the 15 mm glass and nice beveled edge etc.

Tom,
Maybe this should be another thread, but what about smaller tanks? You know...the ones most people have a chance at affording without going into debt? ;)

Well, the smaller ones I can get quotes on.
I think you do not save much $$ on them vs ADA.
The 20 gal and the 50 and the 65 are nice and more normal ranges for folks for the ADA brand.

I like the 120/180 size personally and that's where I can beat the ADA cost due to shipping from Japan etc.

I make my own smaller tanks in many cases.
Or alter the pre made junky ones like I did on the 75 gal.

What kind of mechanical filtration do you use on the esquire tank? Sand filter?

Doesn't the pump required for this size tank make too much noise for an indoor tank? How do you deal with the pump noise and vibration?

I'm asking because I'm planning a 360G later this year, and I'm wondering what would be best equipment for quiet but high volume filtration.
