I'm planning to do a mountain like nano scape with HC.
Something like the one on the photo.
The scape on the photo uses aquasoil to ''bond'' the mountains and it stays firm under water.
Is there a way to do this without aquasoil? Flower soil would collapse right?
I would do the scape dry and add water later , but i would hate it if the whole thing would disolve in water:D

Any ideas you guys?

Interesting. How is it bonded I wonder? I do not have a lot of experience, but the aquasoil could just as easily be kitty litter as flower soil. Aquasoil or MS would provide more nutrients and with the binder less clouding/leaching i would guess. The bonding material is worth looking at however.

This tank use ADA AS also, but the technique he uses should be able
to apply to other materials too.

He used stainless steel net. Before this, he had tried plastic sheet,
but it created anaerobic condition in the soil.

Today i bought some 100% clay litter and mixed it with some flower soil to get ''stickier'' supstrate.
It looks very .. ..well, sticky now;)
Looks like it would endure some water flow in before mentioned setup.
I wonder how would HC roots do in such supstrate:confused:
..i mean, it is realy dense , ya know?

Does anyone have experience with clay supstrate?
