I am currently planning a thesis on air quality/pollution and I was wondering if anyone had any inspiring ideas on this topic?
I am thinking about something along the lines of photochemical smog formation, pollution episodes, hydrocarbons/Volatile Organic Compounds in urban air etc. These are just brain initial brain stormed ideas. My problem is I have too many general ideas. I need something very specific - a hypothesis I can test. Grateful for any input anyone may have. Go ahead...plant some seeds...Many thanks in advance.

Has anyone measured the Endocrine disruptors in air?
Another might be how urban landscape appropriate plants compare over large scales(You'd have to model this mathematically) to traditional lawns.
You could use smaller scales to test and then use modeling for the large scale predictions.
You could also ask some interesting questions regarding wastewater treatment plants and CH4 emissions, and also constructed wetlands(which are also good for flood control and recreation parks) effects on urban air quality.

Sort of depends on where you plan on doing the research also.

Also, you might simply go to the state air quality control board and ask to talk to some of their project manager. Might get a job, more $ for the research etc etc. EPA also would be a good bunch to ask.
