An Algae Ball, and Not Cladophora

    Here is what to me is a new kind of algae ball, one that developed in a new tank of mine. I first noticed it yesterday.

    The tank has a minor hair algae problem, and when I returned from a weekend trip the ball was floating in a corner. Note the tendrils that attach it to the sponge filter.

    Please don't ask for cuttings. :)
