I've got two separate Swords with long runners growing above the water. One runner has about ten buds, two of which have grown leaves about 6" long. But these plantlets don't seen to be growing roots and they've had leaves for a few weeks. Should I have seen roots by now? if not, how long will it take? Can I do anything to help them along?

Also, what caused this sudden growth of plantlets in both plants? Does it have to do with the age of the plants, time of year, phase of the moon?

Daughter plants in the water column seldom form roots, and no root hairs at all in general.

Cut them and plant, they will root and turn into weeds.
Generally good submersed conditions form daughters.
Poor/low levels: flowers:seeds.
