It's not BBA?

If it's on the pipes only then you can bleach it off. Any materials used to wipe or scrub it off should be disposed.

#2 Try rinsing it with H2O2 and see if that'll kill it.

#3 Try rinsing it with Gluaraldehyde.

Looks healthy, maybe can be used as an accent on wood.

I know some enterprising people sold it as Red Moss [emoji6] Thing is it can be found in several "polluted" rivers in the EU.

I had something looking just like that. It appeared spontaneously and I let it grow on my wood as I liked the look of it.

Trimmed it and gave it away when it got too long.

I wonder if it is the same species.

Do you find it has a rubbery feel?

I don't have it anymore, not since I bought guppies who promptly ate it all. I suspect the chances are high that it would reappear if I removed the guppy colony.

The reason I believe that is at the same time it appeared I started getting spot algae of the same colour on the glass, which I still get.

If left unchecked the spots leave a large circular pattern, about a 10cm diameter circle is the largest I've let it get to, that took months.

Do you get that too?
