Hi Tom,I would like your help on a non planted tank with green dust algae issues,I know it's a planted tank forum but this is bugging me for a while. It's a malawi setup with rockwork and no plants.I set it up about 4 months ago and cycled it using ammonia cause I wanted to introduce all the fish at once.the light was closed during this process,1x54w t5 at 8 hours a day and the tank is 400ltr,it took about 6 weeks to cycle and I have ended up with lots of nitrates cause of overdose of ammonia, water change and back to 20ppm for almost 2 months now.It was my first attempt to do a fishless cycling.Anything I should be aware regarding the algae? Is the algae problem due to ammonia or nitrate levels or has nothing to do with this?If not what is the easiest way to starve algae in a non planted tank? Thanks a lot.
