In my small tank I have a new algae that is similar to the hair algae I've seen but instead of being long relatively isolated pieces they are short, about an inch an tend to grow in groups of 10 to 15. This has just started appearing. I found Tom's thread on dealing with hair algae and wanted to know if this is the same thing and same treatment.

Thanks, Bill

Have a look here for a good algae id site, sounds like BBA, but I might be wrong

Re: Algae ID

Thanks Paul. I had forgotten about that website. It's definetely not BBA. It looks like I had it backwards and what I was calling hair algae is actually thread algae and what I now have is hair algae. This is helpful because I'll go back to Tom's article and follow his plan of attack.

Thanks, Bill
