ADA 60H and Mini M build

Getting going on a build of an ADA 60H and Mini M. Since my girlfriend has been really supportive of me getting into this hobby, I bought her the Mini M so she could give it a shot as well

Been about a week and a Half, still filling in!

Finally got a light for the Mini-M, it's quite a bit behind, but it'll take off now.

It seems to me that you have too much actual water for DSM, but I have no personal experience..

Reading many DSM threads, I think I may be correct???

You may want to confirm with a wider more experienced audience

Then again, the tanks look good, and it appears you know what you are doing, so maybe I should just be quiet..

Just don't want you to have issues going forward.........

I know just enough to be dangerous I think you might be right about the water level, I actually tried pulling out a little last night, I just have some pretty big hills that I've been trying to keep moist and have developed puddles in the lower areas as a result. That picture makes it look deeper than it actually is though, it's maybe 1 cm at the most.

I'm breaking new ground with a hybrid method!

j/k, anyway I didn't worry about it too much because of this picture I saw of one of Tom's tanks, but after looking at it more closely, it looks like they're only half submerged at most.

As long as the plant has plenty of air you should be good to go. Also, as long as you periodically mist them you don't need to have them in saturated soil. There's a lot of moisture they can get to even if the hills seem "dry" as capillary action will draw the water up higher than you'd expect.

Update

Some new pictures, about a little over 2 weeks now.

I plan on adding a few more species of plants once I'm ready to fill the tank, just letting the HC go wild for now.
