A little lightness in the fish food area ...

My dog (weighing in at about 100lb) dislikes my fish -- when I start doing things with the tanks he gets up and leaves, and flops down on the floor in the next room.

Not much will bring him back (other than my sitting and ignoring my tanks), except ...

as soon as I open my "Veggie Wafers" box he comes instantly panting until he gets two or three. Given they are less than 1/2" in diameter, he does not get much but he sure does love those wafers (I always give him 3 or 4 so he can at least taste something -- the fish get 1 or 2 week -- the dog wins).

Dogs have odd affinities for veggies.
But the wafers likely have some meat/fish etc also......

Cats are less inclined to try veggies........

My border collie *loves* my fish. My wife and I watch TV and the dog sits and watches the aquarium.

Once had a flounder that would occasionally park on the front glass. The dog would do her “rollover” trick and whine at it.

There's some long standing cat jokes in this hobby......
Least the dog forgives when treats are involved:)

My dogs love the algae wafers. I have to carefully keep them put away. I've lost a couple of bags leaving them dog-accessible

My cat seems to prefer to climb on top of my 10gal tank and drink from the HOB filter over drinking from his water dish. There is very little danger of him damaging or removing the cover, and I have given up trying to stop him.

Maybe fish really is a flavor cats naturally crave just as they say in the 9-Lives commercial. :)

My cat loves drinking from buckets that contain my plant cutting that i remove from my tanks, that contain water and he also like eating them (plant cuttings). His latest trick is to hunt down and eat my freeze dried black worms, no matter where i hide them. :)
