Tom, what's the white stuff in the filter? And what's the advantage of this system compared to external canister filters? Looks like an interesting build :)

White stuff is bio media, its porous and offers great surface area for the beneficial bacteria to grow. I think its called "Bio Bale".

Shredded PCV is the material, bio bale etc.

I used Cypress wood, there is no rock in the tank.

CO2 is a 50mm Rhinox disc, cleaned every 2-3 weeks with Tilex.
Gas tank, Victor reg, Nuporo valve, Burket solenoid with vernier handle, Clippard in line 1/8" check valve

How does the moss stay on the "mountain ledges"? Did you have to tie it in place or just shove it hard down the fossilized wood's crevices?

It just attached on it's own, the wood is actually quite soft.

Who builds your cabinets?

Some hillbilly in TN I suppose.

The new ones, a Hillbilly in LA:)

Haha, I should not talk like that about Jon and his brother:)
These are like the ADA stands but made even better and to my specs.
The custom tanks are also made not far from Jon there in Long Beach area.

This 60 Cube is for sale along with the other one with the Congos that where in it.

I'm switching to different tanks and stands.

Eventually lighting will be LED's but that's later on.
Then I will be fairly okay with the general set ups.

Then we will move and I'll start all over again:)

Tom, how do you keep the Fissidens low? Mine has the intention of growing towards the light, I want it to stay low and grow horizontally. High CO2 and good lighting + regular pruning?

Likely just CO2, never had any issues with it, except it would break off and infest more regions of the tank, requiring more picking and cleaning.

This tank is no more, was removed yesterday and replaced with the future reef tank.

Really? Tilex the mildew remover? And then you put it back in the tank? Fabulous. Was wondering how to clean my Rhinox 1000s.

I like Bolbitis. Very pretty plant.
