Had an open house Sat, lots of folks, food and yacking.

ATI fixture died on me Weds night, toyed with me till Friday evening with fixing it, never happened.
Plan B was going to a LFS or some other place to buy something for the meanwhile.

All the medical weed they sell here= tons of high end hydroponics' places.
    Got a 8x54 T5 fixture to hand for 190$.

So with 2 hours before the meeting I get home with the new light and 40 people coming to the house, I put the light on the tank with about 1 hour to spare.
Plants where very pale, but decent, better than I thought.

Nice spread also, 8.5" wider than the ATI, not hideous, but I'll need to add some modifications.
Hood is 26" wide, not 17.5 like the ATI.

I will add some modifications so I can use the wire suspension later this week.

I did not do much to the tank since the light went out Weds.

    Needs some trimming and care.

Nice light! I wish I could get lights like that for that price around here! Maybe I just need to more to a mmj state. What modifications are you planning on doing to the fixture?

Looks good Tom , what you need to do is rush those plants to me for safe keeping. LOL

Not a bad deal as I paid $150.00 for a 4 blub VHO.:(

Wish we had Medical weed here, and a lot at work also say the same thing, but Ok will be the last state I bet.

Did sign a petition at High Gravity for one though.

Looks good going to keep it that way then?

You guys can certainly still buy those lights etc, just not the weed.

They are bulkier, but lighter weight than the ATI.

Now I can take apart the ATI and likely will, replace the ballast with normal electronic high grade ballast, then just run it as non dimming unit.
Just a simple T5 retro fit for the ballast and wiring.

I really like the spacing of the bulbs for this unit though. Perfect for this sized tank.

I'll keep the light till LED's get a bit better and more reasonable for planted tanks.
So at least 1-2 years more.

Then do something to get the $ out of the ATI.

What brand is it? Do they have a website at the store where you bought it from? I've looked I to lights like that around me but they are super expensive.

Honestly I did not like it much at first, Aaron. Now it's doing well, needs the hair cut method rather than uprooting really.
A stem or two just does not cut it for sales, you need to sell 20 stems at a time to make it usable for a scape.

truly lovely! although my eye keeps darting around. is that a cpr overflow? I would love to see your filtration on this set up. i've been toying with overhauling the 3 canisters on my 90 gallon to an overflow and sump for many reasons.

Those are so gorgeous! How do you get the red on the pantanal to get so bright? My tips redden a bit but the stem gets pretty bare working down towards the substrate. Also I've just had no luck getting Tonina to stay alive which sucks cuz it's such a pretty plant!

Tonina is relatively easy, just add lots of light and CO2.

Red pant seems to like certain deeper red bulbs.
