where i work there are 10 plant tanks. they are each 10 to 15g and have varying amounts of plants in them. no co2, no ferts as of yet. lighting comes from a 48in 2-3 bulb no florescent fixture covering 2 tanks. all have ugfs. there hasn't been much of a algae problem till last week. one tank has been taken over. the plants (fox tail) have been encased in algae. i think its bga or hair algae. what would the best way of getting everything running right? I'm still starting out with plants and have yet to fertile anything.

Re: 10 tanks need algae control

Given that it is a store:
The simplest way is to sell and use Excel.
High amounts(2x rec's).
From there you can add ferts, DIY or Seachem.

Folks get familar with plants, ferts etc, then they can go CO2.
Tanks in LFS's are rough on things.

But this is about the easiest way.

Re: 10 tanks need algae control

we have all the seachem stuff. would the ferts and excel do away with the algea? also i noticed something. the tanks werent being maintained very well for awhile. i've been able to get the nitrate down in all the tanks but the ones with flourite have high readings after a few days. is it the flourite or could it be something else? there also redoing the plant tanks. any suggestions on filtration or anything? i think they're going to be using t5s for light.

LFS tanks are rough on plants.
You need vacuum them once a month, deep substrate(4-6").
Add Excel about 2x the rec dose.
Add KNO3/KH2PO4/Traces 2x a week.
Water change weekly.
