Guys,

Would someone mind double-checking my numbers for the amount of fertilizer I need to dose?

Based on Tom Barr's non-CO2 approach, I need the following:
-1/4 tsp per 20 gal SeaChem Equilibrium
-1/8 tsp per 20 gal KNO3 (depends on fish load)
-1/32 tsp per 20 gal KH2PO4 (depends on fish load)

Based on a 27 gallon tank, I get the following for Flourish products:
-Yields ~ ppm
-5.25 NO3, 1.6 PO4, 7.4 K, 1.37 Ca, 0.41 Mg, 0.02 Fe
-0.325 tsp SeaChem Equilibrium (dose on different day of macros)
-1.625 tsp Flourish Nitrogen
-7.25 tsp Flourish Phosphorous
-0.875 tsp Flourish Potassium

Thanks!
Frank

I think you are a little confused by the equillibrium. Equillibrium is just a gh booster, it is dosed once a week after water changes, the amount seems about correct though.

You are lacking in the traces. I do not use the seachem line but I believe they have a trace or it's just called flourish complete or just plain flourish. Not positive though sorry.

Wet,

Quick one, how low is your considered light level on "ei with low light" option, compare to regular ei option?

Thanks.

Have you tried http://rota.la (formerly http://calc.petalphile.com ) and picked the EI dosing
Option vs your light level? If not, try it. This stuff is easy and sets your baseline.

Wet, I'm not doing the EI dosing. I'm doing the low tech non-CO2 (no water changes). For the website, you can only pick one Flourish at a time. Problem is I can't add the Flourish products independently, meaning multiple Flourish may contain N, P, or K. So if I just use Flourish Potassium for the P calcs I will be over-dosing. It would be nice if the website handled multiple selections. i.e. pick a product for N,P,K, etc. then pick a target ppm for each and it will tell you the dosing required. Otherwise, I could use trial and error with this website calc.

Hey milk_vanilla,

It's using Plantbrain's standards. So "low light" is a pretty broad range, but basically so low you grow plants but not so high CO2 is required.

A reminder though: the real secret of EI is that you can easily dose once or twice a week or three times a week, depending on plant growth and goals. Levels are not so important as long as we keep feeding the plants, at least with most tanks and plants.

Hey spidernids,

Ah, yeah glaring problem. Something is coming!

I believe Equilibrium has some traces: https://github.com/flores/yet-another-nutrient-calculator/blob/master/constants/compounds.yml#L48 I agree with Forumsnow's general recommendation of picking up regular Floruish (not Flourish Trace) tho.

I will look into it. Does the EI low light assume Barr's no water change mentality or weekly water changes?
