7 and 21(bets use of Hygro pinn) stand out, 167 should win IMO.
116, 132 and 159 has very nice tree like effect.

167 is really the overall winner with little others coming close. Rock work is hardly natural.......but the effect is awesome.

167 was trippy and I HAD to click on it to figure it out. Some tricky work with perspective. :)disillusionment:Caution: Nerd Reference) For some reason reminds me of stone star destroyers transitioning to warp speed...or ludicrous speed depending on your preference...

the hatchet fish were a nice choice for 159.

I'd bet it wins the overall.

Never guessed you would pick that one Tom. Maximum points for creativity for sure! Still, have you even looked to the plants/fish, I bet you can't name 3 without looking again:p It feels more like art to me, but definitely attractive!

Does not matter, that one will win for no other reason than something new and the dramatic overall appearance. Also, those voting the final stage will have the same opinion that I do on this one.
I would be extremely surprised if it does not make the top 3. I thought someone had warped the picture till I had a good look at it, no hardscape has ever made me do that. Have you ever had a hardscape mess with your perspective like that one?
Yes, you can use points etc...........but no one will be talking about those and everyone will be about this one. It is the de facto winner either way.

I hope not. This tank is just extreme nonsense in every way. What happened to the plants layout contest? Now is going to be impress me WOW layout contest.

While 167 looks kinda cool, in order to win, the scaper should have to catch one fish out of there, just one, without messing up the scape.

I like 69. You would be hard pressed to proved 140 of those tanks are actually tanks. What happened to them looking like aquariums? I get that it's about aqua scaping, but I'm starting to lose track of how it's relevant. Would many of these tanks looks identical in real life?

Ha! I thought so...i see remnants of your entry last year. not to mention the pelia that you probably had coming out of your ears from your other entry. Again a good representation of the perspective style.

There were a few this year that I bet I could guess the person who entered it based upon the hardscape layout that probably was worked on from previous entry and the qualities of the photographs.

With silly pictures in the background with mountains? I think they already crossed that line sometime ago.
There have been other rock displays and the iwagumi itself might be perceived this way initially by some if all you are use to are dutch wall front to back style horticulture.

Hardscaping is king.

It's a photo contest, not an aquarist contest. NBAT does those.

I thought you are only allowed to enter one tank?
I did enter only one tank, but made few others for other guys and they enter those. So this year 3 of my works have entered and two made it in the first 200. Just like Victor Lantos of Micheal Wong. Plenty of other scapers make tanks for other people.

What happens with IAPLC is that multiple tanks are entered by the same scaper with the names of others, like wife, son, brother etc. That way the price will stay in the same family.... Another way to increase the chance of winning. Moraly right? Not to the people that enter one tank.

So 167 is extreme nonsense? Maybe, but there are mulitple examples like that. Clouds in the background? Or floating rocks? When did you see that under water? ;)
