No, but I know most everything one might need to know about it. It needs taken apart after algae builds up and then soaked in hot water and vinegar for say 10-30 minutes, then rinsed well, flex brush cleaned and then returned to service, this might be done once every 2-3 months or so.

the rest is just see, and put together like you see. Ehiem 1260 pump works very well. So 200 gph at 4ft of head pressure works nicely.

if this is installed really properly, is have a float switch to prevent overflow really important? I would gather that if the sump total volume being dump into the main tank does not overflow it as its too small, there is no reason to have a float switch as well? A spoilt pump can be easily replaced i guess.

As long as you keep it clean, basically remove it once every 2-3 months, and soak in hot water and vinegar for 15 minutes. Wipe and brush clean, return to service.

Your sump volume and level also plays a role if it ever did fail, so you'd only add a gallon or two on the floor at most. Another 1-2 gallons in the top off of the tank and then another 1-2 gallons for a total of say 4 gallons before the sump runs dry.
