tom,
when one tests tap water,should that water be warmed to say seventy to eighty degrees to get accurate tests results? tests would be for hardness,nitrogen,phospate,etc., using reliable kit like lomotte.

I personally fill a bowl with tap water and let it sit for 24hrs before testing.

Might be wrong, but I would have thought the only thing that it needs to stand for is the ph?

I have seen a chart for testing ammonia with takes into account the ph and the temperature to get an accurate reading. But I really don't know if it is really important for testing nitrate, phosphate, etc.

Let water sit for 24 hr, that will make the co2 go away and you will have your real ph without co2 inyection, I think that is good only when one has something like peat in the water that can make de PH/KH Co2 chart go wrong.
