I removed two Swords a few days ago to add some Fluorite and move the plants. So while they were out of the tank, I took the opportunity to squirt them with some 3% H2O2. I waited a few minutes, rinsed them off and put them back in the tank. This had ZERO effect on the BBA, no wilting, no sloughing, no whitening. I think it actually liked the stuff. :D

I also took out a lava rock with some Annubias attached and added some H202 to about two gallons of water. I kept upping the H202 dose, but it had no effect. I finally got out the bleach and dumped about a cup (all I had) into the two fresh gallons of water. The affect was almost immediate, the BBA started to disappear.

Bleach=Good; H2O2=Useless.

I wouldn't say H2O2 is useless. I'm using it for cleaning equipment and it works just fine. Maybe it's not as fast as bleach, but I can use H2O2 in the tank for spot treatment. Try that with bleach :D
Don't know why didn't work for you, but if you add it and if bubbles, then it's working.

A cup in 2 gallons is alot imho....
Let us know what the effect on the plants is.
I usually (don't do it much anymore) use a 3% bleach solution for 30-60 seconds. I have moved on to bigger and better algae.....
BBA RIP
Green spot working on it :rolleyes:

That's about 3%, I'd been reading that 5% was recommended.

Annubias is doing fine so far.

Since I added my Otos the GDA and GSA have pretty much diasppeared. The higher CO2 has the BBA stalled. I'll be adding some SAEs to finish the job later this week. :)

If I remember correctly, Hydrogen peroxide degrades fairly quickly; especially if exposed to light. It may have been that the dollar store H202 was old and degraded (kind of how I felt this week :) )
