I removed the 60 Gallon cubes and replaced them with the 70 Gal 3'L x2'Dx1.5'H and ADA stands.

Much nicer scaping dimensions.

LeeMar tank with black bottoms with soft plastic pad made for rimless tanks.
4 sides starfire.

Much nicer spacing and under tank room to work and maintain filters etc.

Tropheus and then the other is a multi reef, Mangrove, Macro, seagrass(Halophia).
Not sure if I will just dose the Kalk or do the Kalk reactor.

Still plotting the rock and plant design for the Tropheus.

My current tank in DSM has that dimensions, it is very nice, allows you to play a lot with the depth. It is my first tank so I cant say how different is from the standard. How do you plan to light them? I'm using natural light while it is in the DSM.

Juan

Finished the light bar for the Tropheus, I'll keep the 4x 24W T5 Tek fixture, it actually lights the tank very evenly.

I made a pair of light bars for both tanks, I'll definitely need both if I use LED's, damn aluminum heat sinks weigh a lot.
The Reef will get 2 light bars on one side to support the weight of the 120 W worth of Stark lighting LED's.

I'm going to make a custom sump, was hoping to use the old Wet/dry, but naw...........
So the sump will be 30Gal, have a sock filter, and then mostly a fuge. No skimmer.

Shaping up.

Need to think about the rock for the Tropheus. I have some really awesome rock, but it lacks holes and cover for the fish. I might make Prairie Dog caves for them in the rear though buried under the gravel, so it does not distract from the nice rock on top.

Maybe I'll call it the Badlands of South Dakota:)

I'm liking the idea of "prairie dog caves" in the rear..cant wait to see.

also I am curious, is the reasoning for no skimmer because you don't want the water to "clean" for macro/seagrass?
I have kept sps with no skimmer and still head great growth/results for over a year. so I am not saying I think you need one.

Fuges without skimmers go more along with my idea and philosophy in general, the pro monster skimmer and zero ppm everything crowd is............well, not my cup of tea.
The point of this tank will be somewhat experimental and should falsify some of that crowd's claims. That will piss a good many of them off, but that's my intent(falsify, not piss off, they do that all on their own).

Lighting is almost done.

I agree, and proving that their pocket's depth/techo gear has little to do with success will surely piss the 0ppm super skimmer crowd off.
Have you considered in addition to the refugium running a remote "dsb" like a 5gallon bucket full almost full of sand covered with lid and drilled on side for in/outflow..

Not a round bucket really, more a column, much like the older denitrifiers and run them in series at a slow constant drip rate.
