About 2-3 weeks later:

Helps to see pics and not be told what to do for trimming.

More, with Downoi this time:

I'll detail another species of foreground that's best uprooted and replanted next(few days or so, Downoi).

As you can see, there's two type of tetra lines, the plain and then the real red type, I'll have to net the plain ones out and replace then with the redder strain at some point (not looking forward to it)

Here's HC:

I let them grow in for another 2-3 weeks, then trimmed. You can see how dense the back layer is and then the new growth fills in fairly fast, 2-3 weeks typically after a harsh mow.

This is similar to the way HC is mowed here:

Not an easy trim like Starougyne, works well on Gloss.

Thanks for showing the different foregrounds & trimming techniques. I was thinking about using a lot of the s. repans in my tank, but I had completely forgotten about downoi since I had my entire foreground of it melt the day before I shipped it out (stupid mistake). I may have to do downoi and repens now since seeing your pics :)

Tom, its nice to see how beautiful you tanks are and that you do have some minimal amounts of algae like the rest of us. I was beginning to think that you had some voodoo immunity or something. Great thread for helping timid growers properly trim for regrowing and that a planted tank doesnt look picturesqe at all times. I think ill quote Orlando at GLA here by saying "Plants love scissors!"
