New Amazon Swords are Getting Small Holes

Hi,
I dialed back my photo period to 6 hours a day, due to BBA.
Since then I put in 5 sword plants. I am noticing small holes in the broad leaves. I am using 2X65 watts for 6 hours, with liquid ferts, and auto CO2.
What is the suggested photo period for these plants?
I want them to be healthy, but don't care if they grow fast or not.

Would the clown loaches be putting the holes in the leaves?

Rock,

What about snail damage?

Hi Neighbor!

We have seen no snails..................we think our 4 clown loaches (which are very hyper) wish we had some snails.

I know these plants are fert hogs........so put some Oscomote root tabs and extra Iron ferts in the water column.

Was just wondering if the 6 hour photoperiod was causing some deficiencies.

Just got the plants from AllFish (used to be Big Al's Super Aquarium Center) over the holiday weekend. So I am trying to stop leaf damage, as soon as I see it.

Potassium deficiency and critters like some loaches, snails, etc. make holes in leaves. Are the holes somewhat "V" shaped or round, oblong, etc?

BBA is caused by low CO2 levels and poor CO2 distribution. You have an automatic system; what's up?

Swords are from the tropics (and subtropics) where 10 to 14 hour days are quite common.

Those clown loaches are probably going to give your discus' heart attacks.

Small circles.

Running about 2bps out of 2 Diffusers.

Loaches rarely come out of their caves. They have been with the Angels and Discus for about a year

Does the multi quote option work, and if it does, how does one work it?

I've read that clown loaches make "V" shaped cuts in leaves.

Small holes that usually start as pinholes indicate a potassium deficiency. You may want to dose more K.

Does it need to be increased?

I just do it manually.
