Dual Stage Regulators

Ya, every once in while. They're just out of my price range though. I bought a stainless airproducts reg today though. I have yet to get a bad airproducts unit. I've gone through at least 15 by now.

You know, it seems like just a few months ago I was hounding you for info. I don't know if I've ever thanked you or not, but thanks for all that you've done for us regarding regs n'stuff.

Well, I'm not sure. I have one that has an output of 24vdc @ 750mA. When I hooked it up to a 24v 6011, it got hot, real hot. I have anther that runs @200mA and another 6011 that is 24v and it runs just warm. I was just wondering if the dc coils are amperage devices like LEDs.

Yes, yes I do. A lot actually. Here's some pics of me building my regulator with those parts. Now after trying it, I love the 1/4 run coming off the reg. I used to think it was too big and bulking looking. Now it looks just right to me. Thanks, Matt. For doing it first






































Does anyone have a source for a 2" chrome plated cga-320 nipple? (The one from J&R is too long.)

Thanks man. It's really been bothering me to have the long nipple on the reg above. I really throws off the proportions of the thing.

Hi guys

I'm looking for a low-cost but reliable dual stage regulator.

I don't care how it looks and if it's old and rusty, it only needs to be reliable. I'm interested in a complete setup so with solenoid etc and plumbing. Needle valve is nice but not necessary as I have some Fabco's left. The nut and stem should be replacable since I'll be using DIN. Shipping to Belgium (I'll be paying this of course)

Can anyone help me out with this?

The problem that I can foresee is that North America uses NPT threads, but Belgium may use a different one (BSPP, most likely).

You mentioned that the CGA320 stem and nut would have to be removed, and then replaced with the European standard, but I am not sure if it will fit (have to check threading size and pitch).

Which Fabco needle valve do you have? The standard NV-55 has #10/32 ports too, so you would be running that in line?

We use G1/8 etc over here but this shouldn't be a problem if everything is assembled in the US as it will only have US parts.
The only problem is the stem and nut. I do have a DIN 477 nut but I'm not sure if this will fit on the CGA320 stem (internal diameter)?

For most CGA320 stems (the part that screws into the regulator), the threading is 1/4" NPT.

However, some older regulators (particularly the Matheson Series 8, as I am finding out) use a slightly different 1/2" - 27 Harris threading (it is much finer thread).

Aha, how silly of me. I did not sit down and think it through. You are right, you only need to replace the nut, and not the stem.

As long as you get a regulator that has the correct stem, you should not have any problem replacing just the nut...though now that leads me to thinking whether the CGA320 stems are compatible with DIN nuts.

Do you have dimensions/pictures of the DIN nut? I am quite curious about this now.
