Hi,
I am a new member from Italy.
I am running a low-tech planted tank from 2015. It is an almost cubic tank, 45x45x48 cm{3}, about 80 liters. It started as a Walstad tank, but now it seems the soil is depleted. I have a population of guppy/Endler hybrids, some Amano shrimps and snails.
Some plants are doing great (Marsilea hirsuta, Bucephalandra "Lavandau Blue", Microsorum), some just OK (Cryptocoryne), some very slow, including emerging plants.
I have only 15 W of LED lamps, but enough to keep Marsilea and Cryptocoryne parva growing well under 45 cm of water (amazing!).
I am starting to have some problems of algae (BBA mainly) from last summer. I tested PO4 at 6 mg/l, but have 0 mg/l of nitrates, so I am looking for suggestions about how to increase the nutrients keeping a low-tech low-maintenance (some pruning is OK) approach.

Hi Claudio. Welcome to the forum. Nice to have another European here :) Finaly don't have to convert from gallons and inches. I'm in Germany.

BBA can be a long term trouble, but as long as organic load is controlled it seems to not spread very fast.
Regarding fertiizing a low-tech tank you might find this article interesting https://barrreport.com/articles/non-co2-methods.37/

Hi,
actually the article is one of the reasons I joined this forum! And, yes, my BBA are spreading quite slowly, so are a bit annoying but not a real truble. I hope to control them by adjusting the load.
