Seeds, but not carpet seeds.

Basically I am am trying to find legitimate seeds for aquatic plants.
I know this is a tired subject for some but I am not after carpet plants per se.

I have had a brief talk with our bio security and it looks like importing plants from overseas will cost me thousands of dollars just to even get a stem in. None of the plant growers here want to touch importing as there just isn't any money in it for them. There are only a small handful of people here who take plants seriously and out of them only maybe 4 have hi tech tanks so there is not much money in it.

We have a rough list of allowed and not allowed plants, so I am not looking to import plants that aren't allowed just trying to increase what we have available and, as seeds will get inspected at entry they are a potentially viable option for me to increase our available species.

We have some nice species here already but heaps we don't have, so I am keen to find out if you can get seeds for other plants and if so are there any reputable sources about.

Any info in this area would be good, cheers

Eriocaulon seeds are common and people have germinated it and also transistioned it to submerged.

Are you hoping to use seeds to expand your selection without having to worry about shelf life? That's clever!

As a side note, I wish the United States took invasive species as seriously as New Zealand does. Aquarium owners are responsible for many irreversible environmental crimes in this country.

Yeah expanding the current selection is the main goal, but there are other benefits.

Our environment laws are understandable but painful for a very small minority of us who are into the hobby.
Our rivers and environment is ruined by extreme farming and our clean and green image that we sell to the world is a big lie.
But I agree, responsibilities to the environment as aquarium owners should be much more popular.

Old thread, but newbie's interest.

I'd love to source some Cryptocorynes or Aponogeton seeds
Any experience or suggestions?

Where/how are these 'new' varieties originating?
