I've just seen these LED units sold by Aquamedic, but unfortunetly I cant find hardly any info online, mainly youtube to see the shimmer. They look very similiar to Kessil units, especialy the LED, looking at the specs how do they compare to kessil tuna suns? is the red similar.

I have three on my tank. I never had a kessil for comparison, but I know one that sold his Kessel for this light. The red is okay, it has a bit of cold light because of all the blues in it but you can fine tune the two channels to your liking. If I could change it I probably would like just one red led instead of a blue one for a tad more color. I don't think I would trade them out for anything else especially in that price range.

Do you get a nice shimmer effect?

Yes I sure do have, only problem you could experience is the shadows of the hardscape if it is complex. Other then that it is cool to see the shadows of your fish over the cosmetic sand when they swim by..
