Hey guys,

Just wondering if getting a hanna checker for iron would be worth it? Or if i should get any of their other checkers in addition?

Im struggling with my first planted tank. Nothing's growing much and a lot of it is browning. It's all tissue culture. Getting a lot of BBA and brown algae too. Have recently started using excell flourish to hopefully get the plants going, its been about 3 weeks now and havent seen much improvement.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

I purchased one about a year ago, what an eye opener on my micro dosing.

As for the others I really saw no need @ $50 a piece.

Will this be a saving grace to your first planted tank, most likely not.

FWIW I've been trying to measure daily Fe uptake by the plants in a very heavily planted tank.
A fairly tight band width for a 14 week experiment has proven .013 - .015ppm of Fe per day.

Thanks for your reply.

That's interesting. So if i was worried my plants didnt have enough iron, should i get the low range? Or get the high range one in the event that once i have my tank stable, it would prove more useful?

I somehow knew this question would appear?

I purchased the high range, up to 5ppm I think.
Needed for my tanks? Not at all, but when I check other tanks the answer is yes.
IMHO opinion Fe has been overdosed by many individuals.
