Hello brilliant plant minds. I've been doing this for over 20 years and have never had this issue. So I'm stumped. 75 gal medium light co2 injected heavily planted tank. it's been set up for 8yrs, I do weekly 35 gal water change with remineralized r/o water. Gh 80ppm Kh 30ppm. N 20 to 30ppm P 1ppm. No measurable ammonia or nitrite. I have a 20 gallon sump total water volume 80 gallons. It seems every time I clean glass on the tank, sump or overflow box I get a cloudy bloom. Everybody wants crystal clear glass. Plants and fish are loving life but this is super annoying. Has anyone had to deal with this before? I've tried leaving glass alone for 3 weeks and I've tried daily cleaning to no avail. This has been going of for 5 months. Thanks in advance

Weird.. if it was on every water change I would have blamed the water, but if it's only when you scrape the glass, then it's either the scraper, or whatever is on the glass.

I clean the glass, which feels like its got a slime coat. weather I change water at this point or not within a couple hours water gets cloudy and more so everyday for about 10 day to 2 weeks. fits the bill of reoccurring heterotrophic bacteria bloom. it seems impossible to me this keeps happening. as mentioned I use a sump (modified berlin style) and an ehiem 5000 pump turned down to almost 1/2. running about 500+ gph. My Ph fluctuates 1.3 per day from co2. I don't have an oxygen test but I find it hard to believe it not close to max by 2Am (lights off) I also use a sochting oxidator and a twin star, both sized for the system
Is the sochting oxidator and twin start something new you added.
Both produce (or known to produce) some amount of O1 / OH which is unstable. They are supposed to attach to cells of algae to kill, however if there is no algae, it will go after the next thing, that's bacteria.
also if the oxydator leaks it will let H2O2 into water. I wonder if your bacteria colony is depleted causing issues.

both product are after the bacterial media in the system and have been using the twin star over 2 yrs and the sochting over 1 years. It doesn't leak, you'd see bubbles coming out of it.
The slime on the glass, every time I touch it I get cloudy water.
If I have no ammonia or nitrite and a 20 to 30 nitrate would this not rebuild and nitrifying bacterial colony? I appreciate your help, I'm stumped.
