Help with carpeting Hydrocotyle Tripartita (sp. Japan)

Hi all, i love this plant, but its one pain to place it horizontal so it grows that way into carpeting,

Is there any technique i should use to aid in carpetting this beautiful weedy plant?

So i used some runners and buried them to the ground in an anchor kind of way, i saw the ideas of Tropica to push it down manually wich i do sometimes,

But i dont know how to make it bushier..is the technique of pruning it by cutting the runners effective?

The way i see it, it will go forth near the ground as it is, but not that thick..

Thanks for the replies, meanwhile i already got some sucess carpeting it, my light inst high, this stuff about high light is not a straith rule, its more about CO2 levels, and they get a constant flow of bubbles lol,

I do the squich thing, maybe that helped at some degree since the runners on them are thick and kinda warp when i do it,
Then i cut the bigger ones and replanted, with some effort since they tend to get loose from the tool, and the new runners are growing attached to the soil,
They sure are the fastest plants to grow, day after day some tiny leaves sprout and grow

I also notice the main mass of them are thicker than before.
