Hey all,

Well, as the scape approaches the 2 year mark, it is time for a change :) I LOVE my current scape and it has been a great learning AND viewing experience. I sit and watch it for hours :)

Tom has nudged me via e-mail and I responded with a 3 page white paper lol I outlined some goals and desires, plant species I like, and things like that. I would like to setup some auto fert dosing, a better/bigger c02 config (for say a 400 gal tank), a small auto top off for the sump, and little things like that.

So, I will start a new thread as the plans come into focus..That said, we will be using rock instead of manzy, and that is about all I can say about that for now :) We have no plans other than that so far... I like the darker/textured stone so will see what comes up. Tom is out collecting stone now, so he will have several types to pick from I think.

I will use the cardinals, more plecos (for algae control), and a few more dwarf cichlid species, along with more ottos. Shrimps and snails as well.

I want a more open look. More Iwagumi, but much less structured. I am sure Tom will come up with a unique design that I will love.

Should go better this time as I understand more about c02 now, and things are going well now, so a change of scape should not toss things off much. That said, I will replace the substrate and start fresh. May use ADA again, but this is under discussion.

I will continue to have the same 360 viewing, so this must be taken into account as before. While there are main POV, it will still be a walkaround config.

More as thing develop.

Good luck! I'm sure it'll look stunning.

I really have come full circle on manzi wood, it's easily found in the southwest here, and can look tremendous. Though, the look of rock always has captivated me.

For plecos, what species do you use, since this will be a rock tank?

Sounds good Gerry! Looking forward to following along. You do a great job of explaining what's going on with your tank, including the great videos. Adding an ATO was one of the best things that I did. I use the Tunze osmolator universal 3155. Due to space limitations, my ATO reservoir is only 5-1/2 gallons, but this lasts about 10 days here in the desert. I should have my dosing pumps up and running this weekend. I know that I'll appreciate the added convenience that the dosing pumps will bring as well. Good luck with your new project!

Hi and many thanks...I love manzy but want to try rockwork...I will advise on the plecos. Not sure but perhaps a bulldog of some type. 1-2" tops..

Hey,

Thanks much for the kind words....I just ordered the tunze ATO so better be a good one :) I also ordered two of the dosing pumps and a 20x4" cerges reactor, so I will be busy soon :)

BRS 2 Part Doser – 1.1 mL per minute

Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155 Auto Top Off

20" Big Blue (Clear) Reverse Osmosis Canister 1" Ports

Awesome! You'll like the Tunze ATO a lot. Mine has worked flawlessly. The pump is a little noisy, but it only comes on a few times a day. They make an adaptor to hook up a different pump if the noise bothers you. I don't know of a better ATO out there.

I'm happy with the BRS Drew's pumps, so far. They are dead silent. One puts out 1.6 ml per minute and the other puts out 1.4 ml per minute. Not a big deal. I'll just adjust how much "stuff" that I add to the reservoir based on this.

Have fun!

LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has gone nuts with a smaller tank.

I got the nano :). I gotta say though, With a rimmed tank, its pretty ghetto how I had to attach it since I like my water level high up.

Gerry this will be very cool. I will be keeping up with this. Too bad I don't live there anymore! Would love to see the process in person as I did with the current setup.
