I agree with the fact of equipment in the tank. No question! My personal experience says when things go wrong with a canister it is often operator related. The poret foam is ugly. The difference in which sucks the junk out is no competition. Mattenburg will absolutely from a mechanical and biological perspective outperform a canister in my experience. From a cost perspective it is also no question. Black poret with black background and a pump driven reactor hands for me

Interesting, I know nothing about the foam or reactor driven filtration. I'll have to do some more reading. To be honest I don't care for HOB's either, just makes life easier. Although the AC's are very modifiable so I tolerate it, it's doing quite well on my low tech 5 gallon. I'm also a fan of over filtration, it's a good backup in case things get out of hand. I had an xp4 and several Fluval canisters and enjoyed them all, although servicing them was NEVER enjoyable. In addition, they are also way overpriced for a simple pump and sealed canister. I contemplated building one until I decided to go the overflow/wetdry route.

And look at this stuff, me likey.. wonder how much of it actually works though. And if its worth the expensive price tag.. read the descriptions of each item and you may be wowed :p would be nice to have some of these on demand.

Big news Big News..
so I got plants from Liquid Creations, I still absolutely love these guys..

BUT I'm afraid I have received, the wrong order, I think.....
I received Stellatus type 2, N. Golden, and Myrio Fire Red Stem, Acmelia(?), and one other plant I couldn't read or ID.
Emailed for my receipt since I didn't receive one just to double check....
yea...
I have bad luck online ordering :/

I also did a 75% waterchange today.. That was fun..

I swear this hobby is going to run my wallet dry.
So now I have to buy all the plants again, me and LC both differ opinions on what I ordered.
But I still would recommend them.

So now I'm looking for
P. Kimberly
Ar. Mini
P. Downoi
Limno. Aromatica

Which is what I was origionally in search of.

*really sad deep sad depressing sad sigh sad*
sad
:/ rip..

Btw green water is gone, did that 75% and I'm hoping the plants in there now will lower that excess nutrients.

I swear this hobby is going to run my wallet dry.

Ya I hear ya there. I have reached the point where I will not buy anything more for this hobby, except a bottle of excel when needed. Some of these folks are growing stems that cost as much as I make in an hour or even a day. I am about to work on some DIY projects, a fluidized PFS filter, and a sponge filter. No investment needed.

Tom outlined a way to combat green water algae with a blackout. Don't think that would be a good move with new young plants though.

Does your imgur image page look like this?
BbUkzZw.jpg

The direct link URL is the second option. If it's not there then you can always right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Address" (Chrome) or "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) to copy the image URL to the clipboard and from there you can paste it into the image URL field here.

test @snarkingturtle this should be the direct link, is it working for you or nah?

It looks like you almost had it right, but the URL you posted was "http://httpss://i.imgur.com/lQoXL45.jpg" which has an extra "http://" in it.

That's not a big deal. All you need is a different adapter. The brass adapter they send is male and female. If you remove the rubber O ring you expose the other threads. If those don't work, all you need is a different adapter.

@slipfinger thanks for this tutorial on how to twist multiple adapters together.
lol
Turns out this is a common problem for a lot of people I looked it up, got to find another adapter, for the adapter, to help it adapt to my sink adapter.
adapt.
